Alpharetta High School’s
Competition Cheerleading squad won the 5A State Championship from the
Georgia High School Association – a first for the school’s team. AHS
also won the Grand Champion Trophy, which is for the highest score
among all regions.
Coached
by Katie Gumm, who took over as head coach last year and has made quite
the mark in her first 2 years, AHS won its first regional title last
fall and a second regional title this year. The squad also took the
lead at other competitive cheer events, such as the North Gwinnett
Bulldog Cheer Classic (placed 1st), the Parkview Invitational (placed
1st), the Kell Roundup Competition (placed 2nd), the Woodstock Trick or
Treat Invitational (placed 1st), and the Etowah Eagle Mountain Cheer
Classic (placed 1st).
